The union said ratification of the contract came after Worlds of Fun workers participated in several bargaining sessions, including one that lasted 21 hours, and a 95% turnout in the ratification vote.

On October 8, Worlds of Fun maintenance workers gathered outside the park entrance to protest, saying they were working under a contract that had expired since February. On Thursday evening, SEIU Local 1 leaders said the contract included retroactive pay for 2024 to cover hours worked during the extended negotiations.

On Friday, October 11, Worlds of Fun told KCTV it was “pleased to agree in principle to a new employment contract covering Worlds of Fun’s unionized employees.”
