Homeless charity raises £50,000 through walk across UK

The group set out from the cathedral town of St David’s, Pembrokeshire, on August 26.

They followed a long-distance route called Via Beata, meaning ‘path of blessing’, which passes through the site where the Emmaus Norfolk and Waveney charity is based.

At the end of the trip, Ms Roberts said: “It’s very emotional to be home and it’s lovely to see so many family, friends and colleagues.

“I’m so proud of everyone taking part in the walk and everyone at home in Ditchingham.”

Among those participating in the march was Mick Jagger, who changed his name by deed poll for a fresh start.

The 63-year-old, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, previously said: “For years and years, well for 40, 50 years, I was a compulsive gambler and I was homeless for so many years. times over the decades.”

He said he changed his name by deed poll “because I didn’t like the person I was”, adding: “I was called Jagger when I was a kid, so I thought why don’t just change to Mick Jagger.”

After completing the walk, he added: “Raising money to help more homeless people is fantastic and we are grateful to everyone who donated money to the walk.

“But I wanted to raise awareness about the issues surrounding homelessness and I think we achieved that.”
