It’s a local affair which nevertheless makes a lot of noise even in neighboring France. The town of Gland wishes to invest 400,000 francs in a communication campaign which aims to improve its image. At the beginning of October, the municipality presented this project to the Municipal Council, specifying, according to the daily The sidethat the reflection was born “following a survey, carried out in 2021, which demonstrated that people reach Gland well but that the external image was not the one sent back by the inhabitants.”

Stung, the Gland executive then decided to include, in its legislative program, its desire to “reaffirm Gland’s place in the region”. “We are still too often given the label of a sad city where people only come to sleep,” regrets union member Christine Girod. This erroneous image, which has nothing to do with our name, dates from around twenty years ago. However, since 1980 we have experienced major development, increasing our population from 3,500 to 14,000 inhabitants. It’s proof that we are attractive, but we don’t want to be that way by default.”
