Billy Monger: Former racing driver and star of Celebrity Race Across The World banned from driving | UK News

Former racing driver Billy Monger has been banned from driving for crashing into three parked cars, Surrey Police said.

The former Celebrity Race Across The World contestant was found guilty of careless driving at Guildford Magistrates’ Court in relation to the crash in Limpsfield, Surrey, on January 19.

The 25-year-old man, nicknamed Billy Whiz after the cartoon character Beano, crashed into three parked cars and damaged a lamp post and a wall in a garden, police said.

The photos showed the smashed black Toyota Supra he was driving in a front yard.

Monger was banned from driving for 49 days and ordered to pay fines and costs totaling £2,694, police said.

A spokesperson said: “Billy Monger was driving a black Toyota Supra when he was involved in the collision in Snatts Hill at around 11:55 p.m. on January 19, 2024.

“Monger was traveling on a road at 30mph when he collided with a Volkswagen Lupo, a Volkswagen Golf and a Citroen, causing damage to all three cars.

“A lamp post, hedge and wall in the front garden of a neighboring property were also damaged.”

Rick Scholey, supervisor of the Road Accident Team, which investigated the case, said: “Monger was not paying attention when he lost control of his car, causing him to caused to collide with three parked cars, causing significant damage to the vehicles before colliding. with a hedge and a wall belonging to a neighboring house.

“Luckily no one was on the road at the time, otherwise it could have had much more serious consequences.”

Monger had both legs amputated after a high-speed crash during a Formula 4 race at Donington Park when he was 17.

He is a Formula 1 commentator for Channel 4 and trains for the annual Ironman World Championship.
