HOUSTON – Investigators say a man has died after being struck by a car overnight in northwest Houston.

It happened around 2 a.m. when the Houston Police Department said officers from the Vehicle Crimes Division were called to Hempstead, near Highway 290. That’s where they found a dead man in the street.

Based on preliminary evidence, police said it appeared the man was walking in the roadway when a driver struck him and continued driving.

No information was shared about the vehicle, but police said they would review surveillance cameras in the area and search for possible witnesses.
