Temporary shelter in place issued in Plaquemine due to pipeline leak

IBERVILLE PARISH, La. (WAFB) – Emergency officials are asking residents in a part of Plaquemine to temporarily shelter in place after a pipeline leaked Friday morning, Oct. 11.

According to the Iberville Parish Government, a pipeline leak has occurred on Highway 75 (Belleview Road) in Plaquemine, just south of Plaquemine High School.

As of 11 a.m., Plaquemine High School’s shelter-in-place was lifted. Pecan Meadow remains in a temporary “shelter in place.” A section of Highway 75 (Ch. Belleview) remains closed.

ExxonMobil is on site, officials confirmed.

The valve has been closed and they are burning the remaining product, according to parish officials.
