Donald Trump banned from playing golf until after election

Donald Trump has been warned not to play golf until after the US presidential election, due to fears for his safety.

Former President Trump was photo taken last month while playing golf at his property in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The shooter was identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, who since accused of attempted assassination.

Overnight, it emerged that federal agents are not convinced he can be fully protected on the course and have asked him to stop playing golf until the end of the campaign.

A Secret Service official confirmed that Trump “enjoys the highest levels of protection” but that his campaign had requested more.

His campaign reportedly requested the use of military planes and vehicles to protect him during the final weeks of the election, which is scheduled to take place on November 5.

They also reportedly called for more flight restrictions over his homes and campaign rallies and installed ballistic goggles at events in battleground states.

Besides the attempt on his life, Trump’s campaign said he was also briefed by U.S. intelligence officials on Iran’s alleged threats to assassinate him last month.

All presidential candidates are protected by the Secret Service, but US President Joe Biden has now authorized Mr Trump to be protected as if he were a sitting president himself.

Not being able to play golf will mark a huge change in Trump’s lifestyle.

If there is no golf until the election, it will be the longest period without golf since the COVID pandemic, according to NBC.

Mr. Trump has not been seen on a putting green since the failed assassination attempt.

As well as playing regularly, he also owns eighteen golf properties around the world, including one in Doonbeg, County Clare.
