NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – Humane officers with the Animal Welfare League are investigating a case of animal abuse in Niles.

The investigation stems from what was recorded in a video posted on social media earlier this week.

It shows a woman hitting a puppy, kicking it and pulling it by its leash.

According to a police report, it happened Tuesday morning.

Bethany Cluckey, CEO of AWL, said two puppies were being surrendered to AWL. Cluckey says AWL will work with prosecutors to determine the next steps in the case.
