How Wynne Evans found love again with her new girlfriend after the breakdown of her 16-year marriage – as her wandering hand moment on Strictly raises eyebrows

Wynne Evans became the main talking point on Saturday night’s show Strictly Come dance when his pro partner Katya Jones seemed to awkwardly move his hand away from her waist.

During the fourth live show, as host Claudia Winkleman revealed that this week’s voting lines were open, Wynne, 52, put his arm around Katya only for her to push his hand away as it moved along her waist.

A second awkward interaction saw the professional dancer appear to avoid her celebrity partner’s attempts to give her a high five after Sam Quek and the performance of Nikita Kumzin.

Shortly after, in a video posted to Instagram, they apologized for the strange moments saying they were just “messing around.”

But despite the difficult episode, his new girlfriend Liz Brookes was supporting him in the audience and shared a sweet snap with him after the show saying she was “proud”.

So, what’s going on in Wynne’s love life? Here, MailOnline takes a look at his romantic history:

Last week it was revealed Wynne had found love again after the breakdown of his 16-year marriage left him contemplating suicide.

The opera singer has been in a relationship with events manager Liz Brookes, 50, since the start of this year.

Wynne previously revealed he hit rock bottom amid his depression, stemming from the end of his marriage to Tanwen, the mother of his two children, in 2016.

But Wynne is now dating fitness fanatic Liz, who is said to have helped him lose weight before Strictly.

A source told The Sun: “Wynne and Liz met at an event and are taking things slowly, but he is excited about the direction their relationship could take.

“He’s in a much better place now than when his marriage ended. It’s like night and day – and he’s so happy.

Away from the camera, Wynne struggled with her mental health and battled depression and loneliness for years before speaking out about her struggles in an effort to help others.

To mark the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, Wynne told BBC Radio Wales of the split: “It was almost like heartbreak, but you can’t mourn someone who’s still there.

“So it really affected my mental health, my confidence and my ego – it totally changed me as a person.”

Wynn continued: “It made me aware of being alone. And even though I was only 46, I had this irrational fear of dying alone. I had very dark thoughts and very dark days where I contemplated all kinds of terrible things.

“I think what I’m saying is obvious, but I don’t want to say it because some people find it distressing. I can talk about it now, but at that moment nothing would help me. I realized I wanted to end my life and I did stupid things.

Wynne shared that, realizing he needed help, he made an appointment with a psychiatrist and began taking medication.

He also said that fresh air and exercise helped him keep depression at bay, but he readily acknowledged that it might not work for everyone.

During an appearance on This Morning in April, Wynne said: “I was always fat, I thought, “I have to do something.”

I had difficulty washing myself and going up stairs. My mental health hasn’t been great over the last five or six years, and this has really helped.

The father-of-two added that he continued to work in radio during this difficult time: “The slogan of my show is ‘cheer up Wales at 1 p.m.’ but I was going through the worst depression. depression clinical”.

“I thought about suicide, I tried to put it into practice… I didn’t see a way out; I didn’t see any way to be happy again.
