Labor to ban debit card surcharges as part of a broader crackdown on consumer charges as the Albanian government attempts to ease financial pressures on families ahead of the country’s federal elections next year.

The government will outline its plans – and more funding for the competition watchdog to target businesses charging excessive fees – at the same time as the Reserve Bank of Australia launches a comprehensive review of payment costs for retailers on Tuesday .
