Libya should be excluded from international football (Ikpeba)

Victor Ikpeba has said Libya should be banned from international football after their inhumane treatment of the Super Eagles, DAILY POST reports.

The Super Eagles are still stuck at Al Abaq Airport after arriving in the North African country on Sunday for the fourth day of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations against the Knights of the Mediterranean.

The players – through captain William Troost-Ekong – have already indicated they will boycott the match.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has already sent a letter of protest to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Ikpeba said Libya should be banned for its barbaric act.

“If CAF knows its job, Libya should be banned from international football,” Ikpeba, who is part of the Nigerian delegation to Libya for the CAN qualifiers, was quoted as saying by SCORENigeria.

“CAF does not care about the safety and well-being of players across Africa.

“It is a high-risk country and one really wonders who approved Libya to play their matches at home.

“I played for the Super Eagles for 10 years and I have never experienced what I experienced in Libya in the last few hours.”
