The NIA had claimed that Bishnoi was running an extortion syndicate with Canadian gangster Goldy Brar, who has close ties to the pro-Khalistan terror group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

Bishnoi, who has been in custody for almost a decade, has been running his anti-terrorist crime syndicate from prisons wherever he has been incarcerated over the years.
