Group supporting recreational pot measure brings in more than $100 million, but opposing campaign has more money available

A political committee behind this year’s recreational pot amendment has officially collected more than $100 million in contributions.

But Smart and Safe Florida spent most of it before embarking on the final month of the campaign, starting this period with less cash than a Vote no on 3 efforts.

The Smart & Safe campaign has raised nearly $100.8 million through October 4, plus approximately $1,400 in small donations over a one-week period.

But over time, the biggest supporter remains ReallyFlorida’s largest medical marijuana company. The company has donated nearly $92.3 million over the life of Smart & Safe, including lead funding for a petition to place Amendment 3 on the November ballot.

Other major cannabis companies also contributed. Verano donated $3.5 million. CuraLeaf donated $3 million.

While raising more than nine figures, the campaign also spent significant amounts, bringing in nearly $96.7 million in campaign spending.

It’s worth noting that this doesn’t include some additional in-kind spending, including more than $817,000 from Trulieve in the form of T-shirts, signs and advertising. Surterra also provided nearly $37,000 worth of merchandise. Ayr Wellness donated over $9,500 in T-shirts, digital promotions and merchandise. Ruskin Mills provided more than $36,000 in advertising for Amendment 3, and Verano provided more than $9,400 worth of T-shirts.

Smart & Safe had $4.07 million in cash as of October 4.

On the other side of the question, the Keep Florida Clean The committee behind the Vote No on 3 campaign has raised nearly $15.4 million to fight the amendment. This group spent nearly $9.4 million before closing the latest period with more than $6 million available.

The committee, chaired by the governor. Ron DeSantis Chief of staff James Uthmeiersaw an increase of more than $903,000 in the final week before the reporting deadline.

This included $500,000 from Loyal and strong politicians in Miami, $300,000 from Clearwater artist Patricia Duggan and $100,000 from the National Anti-Marijuana Association SAM action.
