The affected area stretches from Port Edward in the south to St Lucia in the north, including KwaDukuza, Mandeni, uMfolozi and uMlalazi in the Zululand region.

Potential impacts include disruption of activities at seaside and ports; difficulty navigating; small boats risking capsizing and taking on water; localized damage to coastal infrastructure and localized damage or significant alterations to beaches.

“Avoid seaside activities such as swimming or angling from the shore or on rocks; small vessels should avoid going to sea if possible; listen carefully to the radio or watch TV and keep an eye on social media for updates,” SAWS said.
