Pune: Mahalunge MIDC police are searching for three men who opened fire on a 38-year-old man in a Garba Event late Saturday evening.
The victim, Nilesh Asatia trader from Mahalunge, was shot near the chest and is currently being treated in hospital.
Senior Inspector Nitin Gite said during the event in a Navratri Mandal in Mahalunge, one of the suspects had an argument with the son of a Mandal worker. The suspect’s mother and the worker’s wife also became involved. “The organizer must arrest the Garba. Furious, the Garba women mistreated and beat the suspect,” he added. After the altercation, one of the suspect’s two accomplices fired a bullet in the direction of Asati, a member of the Mandal. The suspects fired another bullet, which hit the ground, before fleeing.
One of the suspects hails from Mahalunge but hails from Yavatmal district, while the identities of the other two are still unknown. Teams were dispatched to find the trio, Gite said.
