Australia Post is expanding next day delivery to Adelaide

Online sellers and customers in Adelaide will now be able to send and receive parcels faster with the launch of Australia Post’s next day metro delivery service.

According to the post, e-commerce has increased by 15.2% since 2019, and last year almost 500,000 Adelaide households shopped online.(1) However, 68% of online shoppers are likely to abandon their cart if they find the delivery method too slow.(2) that’s why Australia Post is looking to help retailers overcome this challenge by offering a next day service.

Gary Starr, Australia Post’s general manager of parcel, postal and e-commerce services, said: “We listen to our customers and know they want greater confidence, simplicity and speed when ordering online. The Australia Post Metro service raises the bar for customers – prioritizing next day delivery in metropolitan areas so we can respond to this demand and get parcels to customers’ doors faster.

“We already have some of the country’s largest retailers using Australia Post Metro across the lifestyle, fashion, beauty and FMCG space, and more and more retailers are coming online every month. This new service provides a more streamlined and flexible delivery option as we enter our busiest time of year.”

In less than a year since the launch of Australia Post Metro, over 2.6 million parcels have been delivered across Australia and this number is expected to continue to grow strongly as demand for the product increases and new retail partners emerge.
