Guilty plea following Enfield murder investigation

A man appeared in court and pleaded guilty to the murder of Bledi Petraj, who died following a fight on Enfield Street.

Kozma Papa (23.09.02), 22, of Fairview Road, Cheltenham, appeared at the Old Bailey on Thursday, October 24, where he pleaded guilty to murder.

He was remanded in custody at the same court on Friday, December 6th.

Police and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) were called to reports of a stabbing on Queen Elizabeth’s Drive in Enfield at 2.04pm on Sunday, February 4.

Officers and LAS attended. Bledi Petraj, 37, from Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, was found at the scene with stab wounds.

Despite all the interventions made by the medical teams at the scene and in the hospital, unfortunately he died in the afternoon. His family was informed and support was provided from expert teams.

My father was arrested by Met officers in a car stopped in Hertfordshire the same day. He was charged with murder the next day.

Detective Sergeant Matthew Goode said: “We know that on the day of the murder the victim pulled over on Queen Elizabeth’s Drive. My father got behind him and both men got out of their cars and immediately started fighting. A fight that resulted in senseless loss of life.

“It has never been determined why they fought, but whatever the reason for the confrontation, I know it does not justify the loss felt by Bledi’s family and the years the father will now spend in prison.

“I am pleased that this guilty plea will spare Bledi’s family the experience of a criminal trial; my thoughts are with them today.”

The 30-year-old man, who was arrested within the scope of the investigation, was also released without any further action.
