Calcasieu to host workshop to help seniors spot holiday fraud crimes

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s TRIAD Network will hold two free “Lunch and Learn” workshops to help seniors understand how they can avoid becoming victims of fraud during the holidays and other issues they may face. .

Workshops will be held in both Sulfur and Lake Charles in November. Both will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sulfur

Tuesday, November 12 at the Sulfur Senior Center, 601 Maple St.

Lake Charles

Wednesday, November 13 Allen J. August Annex, 2000 Moeling St.

The workshops will focus on topics such as coping with pain during the holidays, budgeting, smart shopping, and how to avoid becoming a victim of crime and fraud.

Lunch will be provided and seating is limited, so pre-registration is encouraged by calling 337-721-4030 ext. 5040.

TRIAD is a partnership between the Police Jury, Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney, City Marshal and the City of Lake Charles. TRIAD identifies and develops programs to address the needs and concerns of senior citizens to reduce their chances of becoming victims of crime, as well as providing educational opportunities that will improve senior citizens’ quality of life.
