Karnataka: CCTV footage shows businessman’s child abductors caught in police net

The two children of a businessman were allegedly kidnapped by two men from their home in Athani town in Belagavi district of Karnataka. Surveillance footage showed two men entering the house and running away with a 4-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy.

However, both the children were rescued safely and returned to their parents and three suspects were arrested, according to a PTI report.

The incident happened on Thursday afternoon after the two children had just returned from school and were playing in the living room of the house. At that time, only my grandmother was at home. The third man was waiting in a car a few meters from the house. The two men forced the children into the car and drove away.

The police were able to track the route of the suspects using CCTV footage and technical surveillance. They also immediately alerted their colleagues in neighboring areas, according to PTI.

“With the help of technical surveillance, a police team pursued the vehicle in which the accused were carrying away the kidnapped children and intercepted the vehicle near Kohalli in Belagavi district around 4:25 am on Friday,” a senior police official told PTI. . He also added that the children were rescued safely and did not suffer any injuries.

According to the report, during interrogation one of the accused said that he had invested money in a businessman’s trading platform and suffered heavy losses. After the businessman refused to pay Rs 1 crore, the suspect decided to kidnap the children.
