Zelensky warned that North Korean troops will be on the front line in a matter of days

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said his forces could soon face a new enemy. He expects troops from North Korea to appear in “combat zones” as early as Sunday.

Ukraine, the United States and other Western countries have said they have evidence that the North has already sent thousands of soldiers to Russia.

On Friday, Zelensky wrote on X that the top commander had briefed him on how the personnel would be used. He warned that their participation “should not be met with indifference or vague comments, but should be a tangible pressure on both Moscow and Pyongyang.”

North Korea’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement through its state news agency saying any decision to send troops would be in accordance with international law. It stressed that the ministry is “not directly involved” in this issue and “does not feel the need to confirm it separately.”

South Korean authorities said on Thursday they were sending a delegation to Belgium early next week to exchange information with NATO and the European Union. The visit will be attended by senior officials from the National Intelligence Service, as well as the ministries of defense and foreign affairs.

South Korea did not supply lethal weapons to Ukraine. But President Yoon Seok-yeol said on Thursday that depending on the North’s actions, officials would review the policy “more flexibly.”
