Families are invited to visit Wolverhampton’s giant monsters, which have risen atop landmark buildings for Halloween.

City Business Improvement District (BID) bosses say the “invading” creatures are friendly and will bring joy to children during half term next week.

Five inflatable cartoon monsters move through the city center, peeking out from behind buildings and corners.

BID bosses say Wolverhampton train station will also join in the fun with monster-themed windows, while other city center streets will feature monster-themed floor stickers.

Cherry Shine, managing director of Wolverhampton BID, described the trail as a free and enjoyable activity suitable for all ages.

It launched on Friday and the glowing characters will be on display until November 3rd.

It is hoped the inflatable creatures will bring joy for half term and Halloween.

Ms Shine said the monsters were “fabulous” and a “delight” for the children.

“They look up with surprised faces full of grins,” she said Friday.

“It’s so nice to see them say, ‘Oh my God, Mommy.’ Actually it’s just a dream. It’s good to see that.”

The Halls is one of Wolverhampton’s most popular attractions.

Ms Shine said she hoped people who had not visited Wolverhampton for a while would give the city another chance.

She said “so much has changed”, praising improvements to Victoria Street and the University of Wolverhampton concert venue The Halls.

“We have an amazing offering in our city,” she said. “People need to come back here and appreciate it and have a little fun when they get here too.”

People can receive a booklet about routes in different points of the city or download the map online.
