M40 driver attacked near Beaconsfield during fake police car robbery

A motorist suffered a broken jaw and eye socket during a robbery in which his car was stopped by a fake police car after a collision on a motorway.

The victim was attacked by a group of men after he was ordered to stop in a car park with blue lights following a collision with another car on the M40 southbound between High Wycombe and Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire.

After exiting at the second junction and parking in a car park on the A355 near the Pybush roundabout, a man in his 30s was grabbed from his car and robbed of his phone, wallet and keys.

“Impersonating a police officer is an offense that we will not tolerate,” said PC Molly Dugmore from Thames Valley Police.

“We are asking for information following this incident.”

As a result of the attack, the victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, but was subsequently released.

Police have just released details of the attack, which took place at approximately 9.15pm BST last Sunday.

A force spokesman said the man believed he had been stopped by a police car following the motorway collision which caused “minor damage”, but the vehicle was not believed to have any other markings.

The attackers are believed to have been traveling in a red Nissan and a dark Volvo.

Police are appealing for anyone with footage of the M40 or surrounding areas from around 9.10pm to contact them.
