ITV The Voice UK final: What do the winners get and did anyone succeed | Television and Radio | Show business and TV

Voice UK wraps up another great series this weekend, with one person crowned winner in 2024. The popular program returned in August after a major shake-up.

Will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones are joined by new faces on the coaching staff. International hitmaker LeAnn Rimes and McFly’s Tom Fletcher have been named as the new celebrities who will mentor the contestants.

Together, the judges shortlisted ten entries to determine the winner. In the finale, Deb Ora, Storrie, Ava, Billy and Louis will battle it out for the championship title and the grand prize.

Whoever wins will join the previous series’ continuity alongside past winners including Leanne Mitchell, Kevin Simm and Molly Hocking.

Although she didn’t win, The Voice’s biggest success story may be Becky Hill. In 2014, she became the first (and so far only) contestant on the show to have a UK number one single with Gecko (Overdrive) featuring Oliver Heldens.

What will the winner of The Voice UK get?

The winner of The Voice UK receives a recording contract with Universal’s UMOD label, as well as the chance to release their debut single. Previously, song content winners received a cash prize of £100,000. However, the cash prize was scrapped after the show moved from the BBC to ITV in 2017.

Full list of The Voice UK winners and where they are now

2023 – Jen and Liv

Just weeks after becoming the latest The Voice UK champions, Newcastle buskers Jen and Liv have announced big changes to their band’s name. They shared that they would henceforth be known as Hunny and teased their “next chapter” a few days before the announcement.

2022 – Antonia Edwards

It was Antonia Edwards who won the eleventh series of the show, but it caught viewers by surprise after she messed up her lines during the final performance.

The English-born singer was a nurse from Blackheath. She signed a prestigious recording contract with major record label EMI and released her debut single Anywhere, which was a reimagined version of Justin Bieber’s hit single.

2021 – Craig Eddy

Scottish singer Craig Eddy was named the winner of the show three years ago, and in 2022 he released a new single, Elastic Heart, after cutting ties with his label.

2020 – Blessing of Chitapa

Blessing Chitapa became the 2020 winner when he was just 18 years old. This was part of the show’s first-ever virtual audience voting due to pandemic restrictions. However, the Zimbabwe-born singer, who was trained by Olly Murs, also parted ways with Island Records in 2021.

2019 – Molly Hocking

During her time on the show, Molly Hocking acquired a loyal following and amassed a large following on social media. After winning The Voice, she continued to write songs and perform online.

2018 – Ruthie Olajugbagbe

Ruthie Olajugbagbe also quickly abandoned Polydor Records and returned to her old life. The girl decided to return to college and complete her education. As reports about the show suggest that she has remained away from the limelight, keeping a low profile.

2017 – Mo Jameel

Mo’s album Evolve peaked at number 36 when it was released, but was dropped from Polydor Records shortly after.

2016 – Kevin Simm

Although former Liberty X singer Kevin Simm won the show in 2016, he reportedly complained about his treatment while performing on The Voice. In 2018, it was announced that Kevin would join pop group Wet Wet Wet as the new vocalist, replacing Marti Pellow.

2015 – Stevie McCrory

Stevie collected a single on the charts, which managed to reach number six. Lost Stars pushed him in the right direction, getting him to perform in front of thousands at various concerts. However, it didn’t last long and he returned to his old job as a firefighter less than a year after winning The Voice.

2014 – Jermaine Jackman

Jermaine was the first act from Will.i.am to win the series. However, he announced that he was leaving the music business in 2014 to continue studying politics. In recent years, 27-year-old Jermaine has spoken of his desire to become prime minister, saying “anything is possible”.

2013 – Andrea Begley

Belfast-born star Andrea has become a successful singer-songwriter in Ireland. She lost her sight after suffering from glaucoma as a child and said she hoped her victory would inspire other visually impaired people.

In 2019, she released her second album, Soul of a Songbird. She went on tour with her aunt Philomena Begley, an Irish country singer.

2012 – Leanne Mitchell

Leanne became the very first winner of the ITV show. Her debut single, a cover of Whitney Houston’s “Run to You”, peaked at number 45 on the charts. However, her self-titled album was not as successful, peaking at number 134 on the charts.
