Firefighters stopped an arson near Redding Football Park on Saturday.

REDDING, California – Firefighters contained a 3.64-acre vegetation fire near Abernathy Lane on Saturday afternoon.

The Redding Fire Department said crews responded to the scene near California Soccer Park at 12:40 p.m. to find a one-acre fire burning in an open area.

Firefighters with the support of Cal Fire managed to control the fire in 10 minutes. In total, 26 personnel and 7 fire engines were involved in the fire extinguishing effort.

The Redding Fire Department determined the cause of the fire was intentional. Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the Redding Fire Department.

Firefighters continue to work at the site to clean up the area.
