On Saturday, October 19, the 27-year-old daughter Heather Locklear And Richie Sambora and her fiance Tyler Farrar celebrated their engagement at a party with their family and friends.

A source exclusively told PEOPLE about the elegant evening: “It was a wonderful day spent with family and loved ones.”

The couple invited about 50 guests to their celebration, and Ava took the opportunity to continue a long-time childhood tradition of inviting friends to stay overnight for a pajama party. The source says Ava’s 65-year-old musician father Richie has known her friends since they were kids and was happy to help with the party.

“It was the most wonderful night in honor of our engagement! Thank you for being the biggest blessing to me, Tyler William #engagedaf,” she wrote in the caption of the post, tagging Farrar.

In the snaps, Farrar wears an all-white suit, while Ava complements it with a white pearl-strap dress. They can be seen kissing and hugging. The party featured a white heart-shaped cake with “Engaged AF” written in frosting on top and a sign welcoming event guests that read, “Welcome to Tyler and Ava’s engagement party! We’re so glad to have you.” are you here!”

The couple announced their engagement for the first time together Instagram post back in February.

“Hard launch!!” they wrote alongside sweet photos of Farrar getting down on one knee and proposing to Ava.

In one image, Farrar gave Ava an engagement ring as they stood surrounded by lit candles in front of an arch of white roses by the ocean at sunset. In another snap, Ava shows off her diamond sparkler as the newly engaged couple embrace.

Proud mother Locklear, 63, wrote in the comments section at the time: “My two favorite people.”

Richie shares a special bond with his daughter. The Bon Jovi guitarist, who left the band in 2013 to raise Ava, told PEOPLE in November, “Ava is killing her.”

“She’s basically a psychology major,” the rocker added, sharing that Ava recently completed her master’s degree and is “working toward her PhD.”

The musician also told PEOPLE that he was so happy about Ava’s studies that he gave her a retriever puppy.

Ava is also very close to her mother and has been very supportive of her over the years. struggled with substance abuse.
