The public walks to remember Amy Mihaljevic 35 years later as new information comes in in case

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio (WOIO) – Sunday marks 35 years since the search for Amy Mihaljevic’s killer.

She was 10 years old when she was kidnapped from a Bay Village shopping plaza on October 27, 1989.

Amy was found four months after she disappeared more than 50 miles away in a field in Ashland County.

Her killer is still out there.

Each year, her family and community spend $5,000 to raise awareness and hopefully encourage people to share their tips.

“I admire their courage and perseverance to continue, it must be very difficult,” Sarah Tremont said.

On Saturday, dozens of people showed up in support, ready to walk or run with even more hope in their hearts after learning that there is new leader in action.

“What they have now is just a big giant step from where we were,” said father Mark Mihaljevic. “Hopefully this time next year they’ll have someone to hold them accountable.”
