Report: 49ers WR Deebo Samuel expected to play against Cowboys

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel He is expected to play Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The team listed him as questionable Friday due to an illness and wrist injury.

Last week against the Kansas City Chiefs, Samuel was limited to just four snaps due to illness and was hospitalized with pneumonia after the game, later released on Tuesday and rejoining his teammates on Wednesday.

The veteran did not practice Wednesday but was a limited participant Thursday and Friday.

Samuel described the frightening experience after Friday’s practice.

“I honestly couldn’t breathe,” Samuel told reporters. “And I didn’t know what happened until after the game.”

During the warm-up, he began to suspect that something was wrong.

“I didn’t have the energy to run or anything for a while,” Samuel shared. “And then I came in and we tried to do a lot of IVs… but luckily we found that right after the game and then everything else.

“It was scary because it’s actually hard to breathe and you can’t take a deep breath. So, in the midst of all this, I just ask, “What’s going on?” And then we found out what it was after the game.”

This season, Samuel recorded 20 receptions for 335 yards and a touchdown and 19 carries for 51 yards and a rushing touchdown.

tight end George Kittle (leg), defender Deommodore Lenoir (illness) and safety George Odum (knee) is also listed as questionable for Sunday night. Defensive tackle Kevin Givens (groin), wide receiver Jauan Jennings (thigh) and kicker Jake Moody (right ankle) were excluded.
