Park Ridge crime: Man carjacked in driveway on Northwest Highway near Northwest Park, police say

PARK RIDGE, Ill. (WLS) — A man was carjacked while sitting in his car in the northern suburbs, police said.

The crime happened around 8:59 a.m. Sunday at a home near Glenview Avenue and Northwest Highway, across the street from Northwest Park.

The man was in his gold 2005 Toyota Sienna minivan when the suspect opened the door and demanded the vehicle.

The victim refused and the suspect walked away down the driveway when the victim called 911, according to Park Ridge police.

Shortly thereafter, the suspect and victim became involved in a “physical altercation.”

During the argument, the victim got into a minivan and drove southeast on Northwestern Highway.

The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect was wearing a red T-shirt with a white stripe and a black cap. He is described as being in his 30s or 40s, about 5ft 1in tall, with a slim build.
