Bellevue man pleads no contest to manslaughter charge in Kearny man’s death

Camron A. Rogers, 24, pleaded no contest last week in Sarpy County District Court after prosecutors reduced the charge from first-degree murder to manslaughter. He also said he does not dispute the concealment of human remains. In exchange, prosecutors dropped charges of possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence.

Judge Stephanie Martinez found Rogers guilty in the March 20 death of Patrick Weber, 56, of Kearney. Prosecutors said Weber was killed at Rogers’ apartment at 8254 S. 48th St. and his body was later dumped near Lake Cunningham. in Douglas County.

Weber’s body was found April 13 near 66th Street and Rainwood Road. Rogers was arrested after the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Bellevue Police Department executed a search warrant at his residence.

Weber reportedly traveled to Council Bluffs on Feb. 27 and was reported missing by his family after he failed to show up for work. Council Bluff police learned that on March 15, Weber checked into a hotel near Interstate 80 and the Southern Expressway.

Douglas County authorities said they found Weber’s blue 1996 Buick LeSabre, which the public was asked to help locate. Bluffs police said the car was seen in Bellevue on March 6 in the area where the search was conducted.
