Virgil van Dijk on injuries at Arsenal

After the match, Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk was asked a question, primarily mentioning Arsenal’s injuries.

The defender responded with controversial comments, telling Sky Sports: “Another player injured? I think there were only two of them.”

This will be a comment that will undoubtedly upset Arsenal fans who are already looking at their injury problems with worried expressions.

The Gunners will dispute those comments as injuries have forced Arteta to restructure his defense into less-than-ideal positions.

A lot of different options, especially in defense, make it difficult for Arsenal to play the way they want.

Arsenal will have to rely more on squad depth

While the first team faces a bit of an injury crisis, the winners at the very top often make the most of the depth of their squad.

As a result, in the case of Arsenal, more trust must be placed on these lineup options to ensure performance and points.

Players like Jakub Kivior, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ethan Nwaneri, Raheem Sterling and others are very capable players.

With that in mind, they will need to be relied upon to play their part to help earn those points in tight games.

This could not only help win more, but also give the players who need it the most rest, keeping them injury-free and able to perform at the highest level.
