Judicial issues were never discussed: Chairman of the Supreme Court D.Yu. Chandrachud on meeting with the Prime Minister

Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud on Monday spoke about the controversy that arose after the CJI Prime Minister visited the home of the CJI Prime Minister during Ganesh Puja in September. The Chief Justice stressed that such meetings are regular and focus on discussing infrastructure issues related to the judicial system, rather than on judicial decisions. “There is enough maturity among judges of constitutional courts and chief executives to firmly keep judicial matters out of the purview of any discussion,” the CJI said. “We know our responsibilities in a democratic system of government, and the political executive knows theirs. No judge, especially the Chief Justice of India or Chief Justices, can even remotely suggest any threat, real or perceived, to the independence of the judiciary,” he added.
