One Direction have released a statement following the tragic death of their bandmate Liam Payne. Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have paid a joint tribute to their bandmate, who died on October 16 after falling from a balcony in Argentina. They came together to talk about the loss of their former bandmate, telling the BBC:

We are completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is capable, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, whom we loved dearly. The memories we shared with him will stay with you forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam.

Louis also shared a sentimental message in tribute to Liam, who supported him at the UK premiere of his documentary film, All these voices. “I’m beyond devastated to write this, but yesterday I lost a brother. Liam was someone I looked up to every day, such a positive, funny and kind soul,” he wrote in part before declaring that Liam was “the most vital part of One Direction.”
