WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The annual Play for Pink golf tournament kicked off in a sea of ​​pink on Friday, October 18th.

The event raises money to help pay for mammograms for uninsured or underinsured women. Hundreds of women and men participate in this all-day event.

“Here today we can do mammograms on site for people who are just in the area for an event or if they live here. Many times we are just a notice board, but come and see if there are any appointments that day and we will be happy to accommodate them. Kara Kiscaden, mammography technologist.

Novant Health brought its mobile mammography unit to the event. The unit goes to doctors and other locations to make it easy for women to go home and get screened for breast cancer.
