Ensure discrimination? Indian workers denied access due to class divide

From time to time, the head of IndiaThe leading food delivery platform dons the company’s iconic red jacket and bag to get a first-hand look at the experiences of its delivery agents.

Recently, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal took this initiative at Ambience Mall, a bustling mall in New Delhi, where he attempted to deliver a ‘simulated’ parcel.

His experience was eye-opening. A security guard stopped him from taking the elevator to the third floor, directing him to the stairs instead.

Frustrated, Goyal shared his thoughts on Instagram on October 6, calling on Indian malls to treat delivery agents more humanely.

Her post, which included a video of her experience, sparked a wave of complaints from workers at various companies, highlighting widespread discriminatory treatment not only in shopping malls but also in gated communities.
