Body pulled from River Clyde in search of Lanark pensioner missing for six weeks

A body has been pulled from the River Clyde in the search for a pensioner who has been missing in Lanark for six weeks.

Officers said David Simpson’s family were informed after a body was found in the river at Crossford, near Carluke, at around 12.10pm on Monday.

The 77-year-old was last seen in the St Leonard Street area of ​​Lanark at around 11.30am on September 8.

Formal identification has not yet taken place, with the death being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.

A statement from Police Scotland: “At around 12.10pm on Monday October 21, the body of a man was found in the River Clyde at Crossford in Lanarkshire.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but is not being treated as suspicious.

“Formal identification has not yet taken place, but the family of David Simpson, who went missing from Lanark on Sunday September 8, has been informed. »
