Twitch streamer Frogan apologizes for US soldier’s comments after backlash

Twitch streamer Frogan has apologized after being criticized for saying she hoped US troops would suffer PTSD during a broadcast.

In mid-October, Twitch streamer Frogan, also known as a chat moderator for popular streamer Hasan, sparked backlash after comments she made on the platform about American soldiers.

The streamer said she had “no pity” for the soldiers, adding that she hoped those in the United States “suffered from PTSD” (post-traumatic stress disorder).

“And I hope you don’t have any health insurance when you return to America,” she continued.

Frogan’s comments quickly spread like wildfire, with many calling for Twitch to ban her, similar to how Asmongold was banned for his remarks about Palestinians.

“Twitch, you banned Asmongold, so I guess you’ll be consistent, right? » » was asked.

“Twitch bans people all the time for absolutely ridiculous, tiny misdeeds. How is she still allowed to be here! ? » another intervened.

Others pointed out that Twitch’s own community guidelines list “veteran status” as a protected characteristic and believe Frogan violated the site’s hateful conduct policies.

“Twitch does not permit conduct motivated by hatred, bias, or intolerance, including conduct that promotes or encourages discrimination, disparagement, harassment, or violence based on the following protected characteristics: race, origin ethnicity, color, caste, national origin, immigration status. , religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious health conditions, and veteran status,” the community guidelines state.

As Frogan’s comments spread, the streamer addressed the backlash against X, saying she wasn’t talking about “all” military personnel.

“The beginning of the clip was poorly written and I apologize for that,” she said. “I realize that wishing harm on people is not the best way to talk about these issues and that I could have approached these topics in a more sensitive way.”

For now, Frogan’s Twitch account remains active.

While the site hasn’t commented specifically on Frogan, it did raise concerns about not enforcing its community guidelines to all creators in an October 20 statement.

“We continue to enforce our policies as consistently as possible, and actively review content and take enforcement action where necessary,” the site said in a post aimed at preventing users in certain regions from being unable to access content. ‘register.
