The force previously said it had expanded its search parameters due to the “fast-moving” nature of the river.

In a statement, Weybridge Rowing Club said a boat and its training launch had fallen into difficulty following an “incident on the water”.

“We would like to thank everyone who helped our crew, including bystanders, and we are grateful for their continued efforts,” the rowing club said.

“We are deeply saddened by this accident and our thoughts and best wishes are with the friends and families of those affected. We actively support all those affected.”
